Retreat at Long Bay with Pam Holland

These are a collection of images taken on my camera of the works in progress at the retreat - a wonderful time of fabric art creation, great food and wine and especially the fantastic company! A big thank you to Hazel and her assistant Marj for organizing this!

Quilt Art Retreat with Pam Holland

We have had five days at Vaughan Park retreat centre creating portraits with Pam Holland. It has been lots of fun, especially with Glenn and her dramatic stories and the wonderful stories of Pam's travels!

Silk work with Judith Ross

I went to a guild workshop recently with Judith Ross as tutor. We worked with silk and created stars and crazy patches using a selection of braids - many provided by Judith from her travels to India. We also used her range of stamps she provided (also many from India) to decorate our silk borders.

Creative by the sea retreat

This was a fantastic retreat at Coffs Harbour, staying at the Opal Cove Resort. Wendy was such a great organiser!
Here is a slideshow of some of my work at the retreat.

Using wool scraps and felt

I really like the use of water soluble plastic to create layers of wool and scraps over material. Here is my kiwi bird under an old tree in the forest.

My workshop efforts

Using the inks I created these two pieces. I plan to use the butterflies to make a small wall hanging for my son's partner who loves butterflies. I will quilt and embellish them so will post the difference when I have done that.

This is the practice bit to learn how to shade and blend using the inks

This is piece is using the fabric paints. I plan to quilt and embellish this and use it as part of my South American Freda Kahlo creation I have been working on.

Judy Perez workshop!

I have just had a great experience working with international fabric artist Judy Perez. We learned to use fabric inks and paints properly. I must admit to dabbling with paints and inks for mixed media work but now I hope to get a much better result.
Have a a look at Judy's amazing silk painted quilt "The Primordial Sea" This has won awards and it is easy to see why although so much better seeing it in the flesh!
